A two-surface anisotropic damage/plasticity model for plain concrete

چکیده

Concrete is a material whose performance is governed by the subtle interaction of its cohesive and frictional constituents. Since the theories of plasticity, damage mechanics, and fracture mechanics cannot, by themselves, capture both of these phenomena, a novel constitutive model is proposed which combines the theories of plasticity and damage mechanics in a multi-surface formulation. Synthesis of these two constitutive concepts describes not only the hardening/softening behavior of concrete under compressive loading, but also the decrease of material strength and stiffness under tension. The characteristics and behavior of the concrete model are presented through performance studies of specimens under monotonic and cyclic loading in tension, compression, and shear.

A simple and efficient plasticity-fracture constitutive model for confined concrete

A plasticity-fracture constitutive model is presented for prediction of the behavior of confined plain concrete. A three-parameter yield surface is used to define the elastic limit. Volumetric plastic strain is defined as hardening parameter, which together with a nonlinear plastic potential forms a non-associated flow rule. The use of non-associated flow rule improves the prediction of the dil...

Experimental and Numerical Study of Energy Absorption Capacity of Glass Reinforced SCC Beams

Various experimental studies have been carried out on glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC), but in limited studies, the behavior of this type of concrete is evaluated using finite element method (FEM). In this study an analysis model is presented for predicting energy absorption capacity of glass fiber reinforced self-compacting concrete (GFRCSCC) beams and the results are compared with exper...

DAMAGE AND PLASTICITY CONSTANTS OF CONVENTIONAL AND HIGH-STRENGTH CONCRETE PART II: STATISTICAL EQUATION DEVELOPMENT USING GENETIC PROGRAMMING

Several researchers have proved that the constitutive models of concrete based on combination of continuum damage and plasticity theories are able to reproduce the major aspects of concrete behavior. A problem of such damage-plasticity models is associated with the material constants which are needed to be determined before using the model. These constants are in fact the connectors of constitu...

Constitutive Model for Multi-laminate Induced Anisotropic Double Hardening Elastic-plasticity of Sand

A constitutive multi-laminate based elastic-plastic model developed to be capable of accounting induced anisotropic behavior of granular material such as sand. The fabric feature or grain orientation characteristic effects through medium are considered in a rational way under any complex stress path, including cyclic loading. The salient feature of the developed model is a non-associative on pl...

On a damage-plasticity approach to model concrete failure

A damage-plasticity constitutive model for the description of fracture in plain concrete is presented. Two approaches, the local model comprising the adjustment of the softening modulus and the nonlocal model based on spatial averaging of history variables, are applied to the analysis of a concrete bar subjected to uniaxial tension and to a three-point bending test. The influence of mesh size a...
